Texture
The part most salads are missing: crisp, crunchy, satisfying contrast.
About Unkit
Now I’m building the version I actually want at home.
The problem
Maybe from the farmer’s market, maybe the $6 plastic box, maybe from your garden. The base is great. But everything else is an afterthought — weak dressing, no crunch, nothing pulling it together. Soggy, wilted salad kits aren’t cutting it either.
The part most salads are missing: crisp, crunchy, satisfying contrast.
Acid, richness, salt, heat, and freshness — built to make the whole bowl work.
No prep project. No sad desk lunch. Just add your base and protein.
Why I built this
I worked on the kinds of foods people reach for when they don’t have time to think — including salad kits you've probably seen before. One of my go-to recipes — the one I bring to dinner parties and always get asked about — ended up becoming a top-selling kit. But at home, I didn’t actually want the whole kit. I wanted the good parts: the dressing, the crunch, the flavor — the thing that makes a bowl of greens feel like a real meal. So I built Unkit. Because most of the time, I already have something in the fridge or pantry. It just needs a little help to be worth eating.
